Shoutout to hitting my first $1,000 emergency fund last month

I finally saved $1,000 for emergencies after three years of trying on and off. It sounds small compared to what some people aim for, but for me it was huge because I used to live paycheck to paycheck in Austin. The debate is: should I keep building this fund to $3,000 or start putting extra into my 401k now? What would you prioritize if you were in my spot?

Split the difference and do both at the same time.

Trying to cram everything together at once usually just makes a bigger mess. Take mixing paint colors for a room - you don't pour all three cans into one bucket and hope for the best. Same with meal prepping on Sundays, trying to chop veggies, cook rice, and marinate meat all in the same ten minute window just leaves you with burnt pans and half-raw chicken. Some things need their own space and time to come out right.
