That thought about putting it into the next project is spot on. That kind of found money feels like free play cash for the house. You could grab a new light fixture for the hallway, a bunch of perennial plants for the garden, or all the supplies to finally re-caulk the bathroom. It makes a small upgrade feel rewarding instead of another line in the budget.

Nice! That's the best kind of win. You could totally put that cash straight into materials for the next house project, like a gallon of good paint or some fresh drywall patches. Feels way better than just paying a bill with it.

Totally get that, but honestly I'd just spend it on something fun. The whole point of found money is it wasn't in the budget, so why force it right back into house stuff? That just turns it into a chore. Take the win and go for a nice dinner out, feels more like a real reward for the effort of having the sale. Putting it straight back into drywall mud makes the whole thing feel like a weird circle. Cash is cash, let yourself enjoy it.
