Put $150 into a cheap dehumidifier for my basement and it cut my electric bill by $40 a month.

I was running the AC way more than I needed to just to keep the dampness down, and after three months that little machine paid for itself, has anyone else had a surprisingly simple fix like that lower a utility cost?

Honestly that's a smart move. It's crazy how the simplest fixes like just targeting humidity directly instead of blasting the whole AC can save you that much.

130 dollars a month my buddy saved swapping to a dehumidistat instead of running his AC like a freezer... guess common sense ain't so common after all.
