Overheard at Starbucks that changed my whole budget approach

I was grabbing coffee last Tuesday morning and overheard a guy on his phone say 'I saved $2,000 a year just by switching to a safety razor.' I sat there thinking about how I spend $18 a month on those fancy 5-blade cartridges. That's like $216 a year right there, and I've been doing it for 10 years. I bought a $35 safety razor kit online that night, and after a few nicks I actually love the shave way better. Has anyone else made a switch like that that surprised you with the savings?

Haha right? Next I'll be grinding my own coffee beans behind a dumpster.

@derek656 Oh man, you're reading my mind. I literally just finished roasting a batch of green beans on my balcony last week. Neighbors probably think I'm running some kind of underground operation. The smoke alarm went off twice. Worth it though, that fresh taste hits different.

Wait, did you seriously roast beans on a BALCONY @the_piper? Thats wild. I tried that once in my backyard and my neighbor called the fire department. They showed up with the truck and everything, so embarrassing. But yeah the fresh taste is unreal, I still do it sometimes when Im feeling brave.
