My uncle laughed at my $15 rice cooker, now I owe him dinner
He swore I needed a $200 Zojirushi. Called mine a toy from Walmart. Well, that cheap cooker has lasted 4 years now. Cooks perfect rice every single time. Anyone else have a budget gadget that just refuses to die?

Whoa your uncle sounds like my dad! He gave me so much grief about my $20 slow cooker from a discount store. Said it'd probably burn my house down or something. It's been chugging along for like 7 years now and still makes the best chili and pulled pork. I guess sometimes the fancy stuff is just paying for the name and looks, not the actual job it does.

Ha, honestly @willow114 your dad and my uncle would probably get along too well. Ngl I've had a cheap analog slow cooker for a decade that still works like new. The trick is to not overthink it and just let the gadget do its job. Tell your dad to mind his own rice cooker.
