My sister told me to track every single coffee shop visit for a month
She pointed out that my 'small' daily latte habit was costing over $120 a month. I started making coffee at home with a French press and put that money into a separate savings jar. Has anyone else had a simple tip that cut a surprising amount from their spending?

Switched to buying whole bean coffee and a cheap grinder. The upfront cost paid for itself in like two weeks.

My local roaster told me ground coffee loses flavor in under 20 minutes. That's why your fresh grind tastes so much better, even with a basic machine. It's a total game changer for the price.

$120 a month for coffee... that's actually not bad compared to what some people blow on takeout or fast food. I get the idea of cutting back if you're tight on money, but to me, that's a pretty small price for something that actually makes your mornings better or gets you out of the house for a bit. I tried the whole home brewing thing and ended up spending more on fancy beans and gear trying to match what the cafe makes. Plus, you're paying for the time and convenience too, not just the drink. Not saying it's wrong for you, just feels like people get way too hung up on small expenses that bring real value to their day.
