My oven broke 3 weeks ago and I fixed it with a paperclip
The heating element went out on my old GE stove. I looked up the part online, found it for $18 instead of calling a repair guy who wanted $150. You ever try to replace one of those yourself?

Man I've been there with the heating element thing. I actually ended up doing the same fix on my old Kenmore last winter. The trick is to unplug the stove first obviously, then pull the back panel off to access the wire connectors. Those little ceramic wire nuts are super brittle on older models, I cracked one and had to use electrical tape as a backup. If your element is held in with screws instead of clips you're in luck, the clips can be a pain to pry out with a paperclip if they corrode. A flathead screwdriver works better for those, trust me. And check the mounting bracket behind the element too, sometimes that rusts out and you need to order that separately.

Those ceramic wire nuts are brutal, @aaron884, my buddy snapped two on his Frigidaire and ended up going to three hardware stores to find replacements!
