My fridge died and I saved $200 by fixing the condenser coil myself
So last Tuesday my fridge started making this weird clicking noise and then just stopped cooling. I was about to call a repair guy who quoted me $350 just to look at it. Instead I watched a 10 minute YouTube video and found out the condenser coils were completely caked with dust and dog hair. Took a vacuum and a coil brush from Amazon for $12 and spent 20 minutes cleaning them out. Fridge kicked right back on and has been running fine ever since. Anyone else had a simple fix save them from a huge repair bill?

Totally agree on the YouTube fix. Had my dryer stop heating and a $10 cleaning brush and 15 minutes of vacuuming out the lint trap duct fixed it, instead of the $200 service call I was about to make.

Man, my buddy Matt had almost the exact same thing happen with his washing machine last spring. It started shaking like crazy and wouldn't drain right, so he was about to shell out $150 for a repair guy. Ended up pulling off the front panel and found a bobby pin and a sock wedged in the pump filter. Took him maybe ten minutes and a pair of needle-nose pliers to fix it. He felt like a total idiot for almost spending that kind of money, but damn if he didn't brag about it for a week straight.
