I used to buy new notebooks every semester for class notes, now I just use the same binder and refill paper

Switched back in fall 2021 when I realized I had spent like $60 on fresh notebooks for just one semester. My roommate pointed out I never even finished half of them. Now I keep a three ring binder and buy a pack of 200 sheets for $5 at Walmart. That lasts me a whole year easy. Anyone else ditch the fancy notebooks for something cheaper?

Small correction though - that 200 sheet pack usually lasts me about two semesters, not a full year, unless you're taking like two classes. Still way cheaper than the notebook addiction though.

I read somewhere that the average college student spends about $100 a year just on notebooks and paper products. It really adds up when you think about all those spiral notebooks that only get used halfway through. I switched my oldest to using loose leaf in a binder and it cut our school supply costs by about half.

Oh yeah, the savings are real once you stop buying those $8 notebooks. I did the same thing a few years back and honestly it feels way less wasteful too. You end up with way less clutter on your shelf when you're not staring at half-filled notebooks you'll never touch again.
