I stopped buying snacks at work and saved for a guitar

Thinking back to my first job, I'd grab a soda and chips from the vending machine every afternoon without a second thought. It was just a few bucks, but it added up fast. One month, I added all those small buys and was shocked to see over a hundred dollars gone. So, I started packing my own snacks from home, like apples and nuts. It took some getting used to, but after a few weeks, it became a habit. Now, I've got enough saved to buy that used guitar I've been eyeing. It's funny how cutting out little things can lead to big wins. I don't miss those overpriced chips at all.

You know what's funny? My friend did something similar but with her morning coffee and those gossip magazines at the checkout. She figured out she was spending like twelve bucks a week just on that stuff. She started making coffee at home and just reading news on her phone, and after a few months, she had enough for a really nice pair of tickets to a concert.

Factor in the cost of making coffee at home.

I spent $50 a week on fancy lattes and thought it was normal. Tracking it for a month showed me that was over $200 gone. Switched to a cheap French press and good beans, now it's maybe $15 a week. That extra cash basically paid for my new hiking boots last season.
