Dropped $80 on a pressure canner last month and it already paid for itself in bulk beans and stock
I did the math and after canning 3 batches of chili and 2 batches of veggie stock from scraps I saved about $95 compared to buying canned stuff at the store, anyone else tried canning to cut grocery costs?

Are you factoring in the time you spend prepping and cleaning your canner, or just the upfront cost vs store prices?

Didn't you hear what happened to my friend when she forgot about the cleanup time?

Are you counting the gas/electricity to run the canner for those hours though? I did a batch of stock last week and my stove was on for like 4 hours, that adds up around here with our rates. Just wondering if the $95 savings would shrink a bit after you factor in the utility costs.
