That week in Bangkok where I saved $200 by ignoring every travel blog

Honestly, everyone online was screaming about booking hostels and street food tours weeks ahead. I went to Bangkok last June and did the opposite - just showed up with no plans. Ended up finding a clean guesthouse for $12 a night in a side alley near Khao San Road just by walking around. The best meal I had was from a cart with zero English signs that cost me 30 baht. Anyone else ever had better luck ditching the internet and just winging it?

My friend did the exact same thing and swore by it.

@hall.nina see that's the thing, everyone talks about the actual method but nobody mentions how hard it is to stick with it when you're tired or stressed. The real secret is having a backup plan for when you just can't do the thing.

Nah but "swore by it" is doing a LOT of heavy lifting there lol. People always say that but never mention how many times they fell off before it actually stuck. The whole "backup plan" thing lilykelly said is way more real than anyone wants to admit. Like you can have the perfect method but when you're running on 4 hours of sleep and stress is through the roof, that plan goes out the window. I've seen so many people swear by something for a week then drop it completely when life hits. The real trick isn't the method itself, its having a low effort version that still counts so you don't just give up entirely.
