Rant: Ryanair charged me $80 for a bag I measured wrong, so I’m done with check-ins forever

At Stansted last month I thought my backpack was under the 55x40x20 limit but the sizer said otherwise, and now I just wear all my heavy clothes on the plane, but has anyone else tried those compression cubes that actually fit the exact dimensions?

My buddy Dave got hit with the same thing at Luton, paid the fee, then wore his hiking boots and a hoodie on the plane just to spite them. Said his backpack magically fit after he shoved the boots in his pockets. Compression cubes helped him squeeze an extra shirt in, but honestly the real trick is just lying to yourself about how much you can carry.

Relying on yourself about how much you can carry" is basically the story of modern life, honestly. Every airline, every checkout line, every free trial is just a test of how much nonsense you'll accept before you push back.
