Pro tip: the $18 airport bus I skipped cost me way more than $18

Booked a 6am flight out of O'Hare and figured I'd just grab a rideshare to the blue line to save time, ended up paying $52 because of surge pricing at 4am. Took me 3 trips and way too much Googling to finally learn the CTA runs all night and the bus is $2.25. Anyone else burn cash on airport rides before figuring out the cheap route?
