Pro tip: I was wrong about booking flights on a Tuesday
For years I thought the 'cheapest day to book' thing was a total myth, but I tracked prices for a trip to Lisbon for a month. Flights from Chicago were around $850 most days, but every single Tuesday at like 10 AM my time, they dropped to $720. I finally bought one last week and saved $130. I mean, it's not a magic rule for every route, but for this one it was spot on. Has anyone else found a specific day that works for their home airport?

Check other airlines for the same route?

Actually, sticking with one airline for a route can build up your loyalty points way faster. If you're flying that trip often, @the_caleb, those points add up to free upgrades or tickets quicker than spreading them around. Checking other airlines just adds more time and confusion to the booking process. Most of the time the price difference is pretty small anyway. You also get to know the specific plane and crew schedule, which makes travel less stressful. It's simpler to just pick one and stick with it.

Just open a private browser window and search the same dates, I do it every single time. I mean loyalty points are nice but I've saved like a hundred bucks before by spending two extra minutes. The prices can be all over the place depending on when you look, idk maybe it's just me but I'd rather have the cash now.
