My uncle in Manila said he flies to Bangkok just to fill his meds, and now I check pharmacy prices before I book anything
He lives in Manila and his blood pressure pills cost about $90 a month there, but the same ones run him under $25 in Bangkok. He told me he books a $60 round trip on a sale fare, spends two nights in a hostel near Khao San for $14 a night, and still comes out way ahead on a three month supply. I always thought medical stuff was fixed wherever you go, so this kind of blew my mind. Now I check drug prices in whatever country I'm visiting before I lock in flights, especially for anything refillable. Anyone here ever timed a trip around a big purchase like dental work or contacts?
