My pricey lesson from Prague's metro

Always stamp your ticket at the platform machines. I found out the hard way that inspectors don't give warnings.

Those platform machines (super easy to miss, right?) are a trap.

Super easy to miss" is so true! I had a friend visit and she walked right past one, got a fine, and was so mad. It reminds me of what @cora_carr73 said about reading rules, but sometimes you're just tired from travel and your brain misses things. My friend was looking for the big yellow validators like back home and totally blanked on the small gray box. She argued with the inspector for ten minutes.

Honestly, calling it a 'trap' feels a bit dramatic. @fiona252 mentioned they're easy to miss, but aren't there signs everywhere? From what I've seen, these machines are placed right where you enter the platform. It's not like they hide them on purpose. Other places like Vienna or Budapest have the same rule, and people manage just fine. Maybe tourists just need to read the rules before using public transport.
