My hostel booking in Prague got canceled 2 hours before check-in
I landed at the airport, got my bag, and opened the app to get the address. There was a message saying the reservation was voided due to 'overbooking'. This was at 4 PM local time. I had to scramble and ended up paying $80 for a last minute private room instead of the $25 dorm bed. Has anyone else had a host pull this, and what's your backup plan?

Man that's the worst feeling. I had a place in Lisbon do that to me once, left me sitting on the curb with my backpack. Now I always screenshot my booking confirmation right after I land, and I have a couple of cheap hotel chain apps downloaded just in case. It doesn't fix the price jump, but at least you have a quick backup.

Screenshotting the confirmation is a solid move. Adds a little bit of proof to your panic. Still feels like bringing a water pistol to a house fire, though.

Canceled at the airport after you'd already landed? That's a special kind of awful. It's one thing to get an email a week out, but to pull the rug when you're standing there with your luggage is just brutal. Makes you wonder if they ever had the bed to begin with.
