Lost my hostel key in Lisbon and the lockout fee cost more than a night
So I was in Lisbon two weeks back and on my way out the door I dropped my hostel key somewhere between the tram stop and a pastel shop. Got back around 1am and the front desk guy told me a replacement key costs 45 euros, which was wild because the bunk itself ran me 22 a night. I ended up sitting in a 24 hour laundromat down the street for 3 hours until another guest came back and let me in the side door. Now I keep my key on a carabiner clipped to my belt loop instead of loose in my pocket. Does anyone else have a system for not losing room keys, or am I just cursed here?
