Just read that booking a hotel in Chicago for a Wednesday night can be 30% cheaper than a Friday.
Found it buried in a blog post from a travel agent who tracks city data, and now I'm annoyed I never checked midweek prices before.

Wait, was that Chicago tip from charles_kelly43 about flights or hotels? I remember him saying it saved money, but switching days usually works better for hotels... flights are a whole different mess.

My Chicago trip last fall was way cheaper because I switched from Friday to Wednesday check-in.
