I found $7 flights by being awake at 3 AM on a Tuesday
So I was booking a trip from Austin to Denver last month and the prices kept jumping around. I read some random blog that said airlines adjust fares at weird hours when nobody's shopping. At 3 AM on a Tuesday I checked Kayak and saw a flight for $7 plus taxes. I bought it right then for $32 total. The same flight was $140 by noon that day. Has anyone else caught crazy deals like that from just checking at the wrong time?

@alexc93 I mean, are you sure it's not worth trying? I get what you're saying about error fares getting canceled, I've had that happen before too. But this wasn't some sketchy site, it was Kayak, and the booking went through fine. I even got the confirmation email from the airline right after. The flight itself was legit, no issues at check in or anything. Maybe it's just me but I think there's something to the idea that airlines don't update prices in real time when nobody's looking. I'm not saying set your alarm every single Tuesday, but checking once or twice at weird hours has worked for me more than once.

Man, I gotta call this out. I've been flying for work for like 15 years and I've never seen a $7 flight that wasn't some kind of error fare that gets cancelled the next day. You might have gotten lucky this one time, but most of the time those prices are either a glitch or a teaser rate that doesn't include bags or seat selection. If you set your alarm for 3 AM every Tuesday hoping to save a hundred bucks, you're gonna be pretty tired and pretty disappointed.
