I finally saved $400 on a flight by booking on a Tuesday at 2 AM
Last month I was planning a trip to Portland and kept seeing the same $600 round trip for weeks. I read somewhere that airlines release deals late Sunday night or early Tuesday, so I set an alarm for 2 AM on a Tuesday. Sure enough, I found a flight for $199 on Southwest that I grabbed immediately. The catch was having to layover in Denver for 4 hours, but I just brought snacks and a book. Ended up spending less than $50 on food the whole trip by packing sandwiches from home. Has anyone else scored killer deals by booking at weird hours or am I just lucky?

I used to think the Tuesday at 2 AM thing was just a myth people repeated on travel blogs. But after missing out on a $250 deal to Austin by waiting until noon on a Tuesday, I started setting alarms too. My best score was a $180 round trip to Nashville with just one quick layover in Dallas. I always pack my own snacks and a reusable water bottle now, it seriously makes those long layovers so much easier.

That $199 Southwest deal reminds me of the time I found a $150 round trip to Chicago just by checking random times on a Wednesday.
