Hotel breakfast buffets used to be my savior, now I sneak in my own instant oats

Every trip in the 2010s, I'd load up on the free hotel eggs and sausage and skip lunch entirely. But the last 3 times I stayed at budget places, the spread got way worse, cold cereal and stale pastries only. I started packing a $4 bag of instant oats and a plastic spoon, and honestly I feel better and save cash. Is the buffet dying everywhere, or am I just picking the wrong hotels now? Any budget travelers still finding solid free breakfasts?

bruh the buffet died with the 2010s lol. just pack the oats and dont look back.

Maybe it's just me but a free continental breakfast never felt like a huge deal anyway.
