Hostels vs. budget hotels - hostels absolutely won for me in Prague

I spent a week in Prague last fall comparing both. Hostels cost me $15 a night versus $55 for a basic hotel room. Plus I met a local artist in my hostel common room who showed me a secret pub crawl route that saved me like $40 on drinks. Has anyone else found hostels way better for both money and social stuff in Eastern Europe?

Overrated honestly, hostels are just dorm rooms with more noise and less privacy.
