Had to choose between a hostel in Lisbon and a hostel in Porto for my 5 day trip last spring
I picked the one in Porto because it was $12 a night cheaper and had free breakfast, but the location was way farther from the main sights, has anyone else traded convenience for a lower price and regretted it?

Used to think saving money always mattered but this changed my mind.

Maybe the real value isn't in the money saved but in the experiences missed. I've got a buddy who skipped every trip and night out for five years straight to build up a huge nest egg. Then his dad passed away suddenly and he realized all those memories he didn't make with family and friends were gone forever. He's got a fat bank account now but he'd trade it all for one more weekend camping trip with his old man. Saving is smart but not if it hollows out your life while you're busy doing it.
