Burned $120 on a 'budget' flight booking site lesson learned

I tried using one of those third party flight aggregator sites, FlyCheapo or whatever, to save money on a trip to Denver last month. The price looked great, $240 round trip, but after checkout they hit me with $85 in hidden fees for seat selection and baggage that their comparison didn't show. Ended up paying way more than I would have just booking direct on Southwest. Has anyone else had luck getting those fees refunded or do I just take the L?
