Vent: my rice cooker lid popped off and painted the ceiling
Was making a big batch of rice for the week in my $15 cooker from Target and forgot to rinse the rice first. The foam bubbled up so fast the lid shot off and hit the light fixture, rice water went everywhere. Took me 45 minutes to scrub the starchy crust off the ceiling and countertops. Anybody else have a cheap kitchen gadget turn into a mess like this?

My cheap air fryer once set off the smoke alarm so bad my neighbor knocked to see if the house was on fire.

Oh man, that reminds me of the time I tried to make popcorn in a regular pot and forgot to put the lid on. Kernels went flying everywhere, one hit my cat, and I was finding popcorn in my shoes for a week straight. Starch ceiling sounds awful but at least you didn't have to chase a terrified feline around the apartment at midnight.

actually @the_tara you've got me beat with the air fryer fire alarm thing. but hey, at least your neighbor didn't have to chase a cat covered in popcorn butter like i did. still finding bits of kernel in my couch seams months later.
