That time I realized portion sizes wreck my grocery budget more than anything else

I was going through my receipts from last month and noticed I was spending $85 a week on food for just me. Then I actually measured out my rice and pasta servings instead of eyeballing it and my groceries lasted almost 10 days instead of 7. How do you all keep portion sizes in check without feeling like you're eating too little?

Nah man, I actually save more making bigger batches and freezing extras.

Freezer space is definitely the catch. But even with a small freezer, you can make it work if you portion stuff flat in bags... they stack way better than containers. I do it with chili and pasta sauce all the time, saves me on those nights I don't feel like cooking.
