Switched from frozen veggies to the discount produce bin 3 months ago

I used to grab the $3 bag of frozen broccoli every week. Now I buy the marked down bell peppers and onions for 99 cents. What's your go-to cheap produce hack?

Right, and the best part is you can just roast the whole bell pepper and the skin slides right off, so no one even knows it was the discount bin. I've been grabbing the marked up bags of apples that have one bruised spot, cut out the bad part, and they're perfectly fine for applesauce or muffins. The key is to not be picky about what you're making that week and just let the cheap produce decide the menu. Honestly, I've saved more money this way than using coupons on brand name stuff ever did.

Honestly never thought about it that way but you just made me rethink my whole grocery routine.

Gotta call out the "marked up bags" thing though. Those are usually marked down, not up. The store is lowering the price because they're about to go bad. Small thing but the coupon part is actually a decent point. I still use coupons for stuff like pasta and canned tomatoes where the price is fixed and the discount is real. But for fresh stuff, yeah, grabbing the marked down produce is way more flexible. Last week I got a bag of sad looking avocados for a buck and made guac that nobody complained about.
