Spent $30 on a bag of dried beans and honestly it hurt less than buying canned
I was dead set against soaking beans overnight but after 5 months of buying canned at $1.50 a pop I finally did the math and now I'm kicking myself for not switching sooner, am I missing something about the texture or does everyone just deal with it?

Has anyone else gotten weirdly territorial about their bean soaking method? I tried the quick soak method once where you boil them for a minute and then let them sit for an hour, and I swear my wife looked at me like I had three heads when I told her I was timing it on my phone. But honestly the texture thing is real, I used to hate canned beans because they'd always turn into paste the second I looked at them with a spoon.

Hell yeah haha welcome to the club. I was exactly the same way for like a year, buying cans of black beans for $1.50 each thinking I was being reasonable. Then I bought a giant 5lb bag of pintos for like 6 bucks and it made like 12 cans worth at least. The math is just stupid when you actually do it. I do a big batch on Sunday in my slow cooker and portion them out into freezer bags. Texture wise I honestly like them better than canned now, they come out way firmer and don't turn to complete mush when you reheat them.
