Shoutout to the lady at the farmers market who changed how I shop for meat
Honestly, I used to buy the cheapest ground beef at Walmart without thinking twice. Then this older woman at the Saturday market in Springfield told me she only buys from the butcher's discount bin at closing time, same quality for half the price. I tried it last week and got 3 pounds of chuck roast for $8, which I turned into a giant pot of chili. Has anyone else found a specific store or time that saves them big on meat?

Tbh did you ask the butcher if they always discount at the same time or was that just a lucky guess on her part? I've been trying to figure out if there's a pattern at my local shop or if you just have to show up and hope.

Honestly @charlie_ellis I think it's more of a "just show up and hope" kind of thing at most places. Tbh I've tried asking my local butcher about their discount schedule before and they just gave me this vague "whenever we need to move stuff" answer. Ngl I started going later in the day around 4-5pm and that's when they start slapping the discount stickers on for stuff that's gonna expire the next day. But it's never the same time every day so you really gotta just be there and look for the yellow stickers if you want the deals.
