Serious question, my sister told me my $1.10 per plate chili was 'too cheap to taste good' so I changed it up
Two months ago my sister ate my chili at her place in Dayton and said flat out 'this tastes like it costs a dollar and it shows.' I was pretty annoyed since I fed my family of five on about $5.50 total, but I sat with it for a week and realized she might have a point. So now I do one batch her way with fresh peppers and actual ground chuck at $9 a pot and one batch my old way, and honestly the cheap one wins on most nights while hers wins on Sundays. Here is the debate I want help with: do you stretch your protein with beans and rice to keep cost down, or pay more for meat and eat smaller plates? I keep flip flopping and my grocery bill keeps changing with my mood.
