PSA: I was wasting so much money on fresh herbs until my neighbor in apartment 4B said something

I used to buy those little plastic packs of cilantro or basil for $3 each, and half would go bad before I used it. My neighbor saw me throwing a bunch out and told me to just buy a live herb plant from the garden center for the same price. I got a basil plant for $3.50 at the local hardware store and it's lasted me over a month so far. Has anyone else tried growing a couple basic herbs on a windowsill to cut costs?

Oh man, I feel so called out right now. My fridge is basically a herb graveyard. Maybe I should try keeping something alive for once.

Hold up, I'm totally with @jessica_ross38. Store-bought herbs are fine! That homegrown stuff is a huge hassle for a tiny bit of flavor. You need the right pot, the right light, you have to remember to water it... way easier to just grab a plastic clamshell when you need it.

Ever notice how much better homegrown herbs taste compared to the sad store-bought stuff?
