Made a big batch of chili last Sunday with $4 of ground beef and somehow it tasted better than the $12 restaurant version
Used a can of cheap kidney beans and some leftover onion I almost threw out, and the flavor was way deeper than I expected, has anyone else noticed cheaper ingredients sometimes just work better in a slow cooker?

Man my chili game is a joke compared to this. $4 beef and leftover onion beats my $50 grocery run where I buy every spice in the store and end up with soup that tastes like dirt. Pretty sure the cheap stuff has some kind of magic dirt flavor that sticks around in the pot. Maybe I'm just scared to admit my fancy ingredients are just for show while the dollar store beans do all the work.

You're overthinking it. Most people ruin chili by treating it like a science experiment instead of just letting cheap ingredients do their thing.
