Just found a $3 bag of lentils that made 4 meals

I stopped by the Bulk Barn in Halifax last week and grabbed a bag of red lentils for $3.20. Cooked them up with some onions and a can of tomatoes I had in the cupboard. Got 4 solid dinners out of it and still have half the bag left. Anyone else find a cheap ingredient that just keeps going?

Isn't it funny how the stuff that actually works in life is usually the boring, simple stuff you learned years ago and forgot about? Reminds me how we all get tricked into thinking we need complicated solutions when the basic ones still do the job fine. Lentils don't try to be anything they're not, and they still get the work done.

The part about lentils really hit me. I've been trying so hard with all these fancy meal prep plans and complicated recipes but plain old beans and rice honestly feel better and cost less. We really do get sold on the idea that new and shiny means better when the simple stuff is what actually got us through life before.

Respectfully, I gotta disagree a little. Simple stuff works, sure. But complicated solutions exist for a reason. Sometimes the boring basics don't cut it anymore.
