I figured freeze dried onions were a rip off, then I did the math on a $2.50 bag from WinCo
That bag lasted me about 6 weeks of dinners while a fresh onion from the store here in Spokane goes bad in my drawer within 10 days. Does anyone else keep a cheap backup like this, or am I just bad at using up produce?
Honestly I have to disagree here, the math works out but the taste just is not there for me. I tried the cheap bag thing too and every dish came out kinda flat and sad, so I ended up using twice as much to get any onion flavor at all. A fresh onion chopped up and tossed in a pan actually smells like food, and that matters more to me than saving a buck fifty. Sounds more like a storage problem though, mine keep way longer than 10 days in a cool dark spot away from the potatoes.
