Hit $50 a week on groceries after years of overspending
I finally got my weekly grocery bill down to exactly $50 a week in Portland, and it surprised me how easy it was once I stopped buying pre-cut veggies and switched to dry beans. I was spending closer to $80 before and just assumed that was the floor. What specific changes helped you guys cut your numbers down?

Have you tried meal prepping your beans in bulk for the week?

Pre-cut veggies are a total scam once you do the math. A head of broccoli costs like $1.50 but a bag of florets is $4. That adds up fast. Dry beans are good but what about frozen vegetables? They're usually under $2 a bag and already chopped, just takes a minute in the microwave. Did you look at your meat spending or was that already low? Portland prices are rough so $50 is impressive out there.
