Cooking dried beans from scratch is a budget no-brainer
I quit buying canned beans and now make big batches every week. It costs pennies per serving and the flavor beats any can.

Seriously, the texture alone makes it worth it for me. Canned beans always turn to mush in soups or salads, but from-scratch ones actually keep their bite. It's a small thing that changes a whole dish.

My friend finally tried it after years of canned refried beans. He called me shocked at how much better the homemade ones tasted, like it was a totally different food.
