Buying in bulk used to save me money but now it feels like a waste

I used to stock up on giant bags of rice and beans from Costco every month because it seemed cheaper per pound. Last week I realized 5 pounds of dried beans sat in my pantry for 6 months and I only used half before they got stale. Has anyone else switched to buying smaller amounts more often to avoid throwing food out?

Try freezing half the beans when you buy them, helps keep them good longer.

Wait does freezing mess with the texture at all when you thaw them out? I tried freezing some washed beans once and they came out kinda mushy and weird. Maybe I didn't dry them enough or something before bagging them up.
