Bought a $20 slow cooker after years of thinking it was a gimmick
I used to laugh at slow cookers thinking they were just for making mushy stews but after a 12 hour shift during a snowstorm in Ohio I came home to a perfect pot roast that cost me like $8 total. Honestly it changed my mind about meal prep on a shoestring budget. Anyone got a go-to cheap cut of meat that works best in one of these?

You're giving these things too much credit. They're just glorified hot plates that turn everything into the same sad, gray mush after 8 hours. Better off spending that $20 on a cast iron skillet and learning how to actually sear meat.

You're missing the point @gracewebb. A seared steak is great but a chuck roast that's been in the crock pot for 10 hours is a completely different thing. It's about tough cheap cuts that need low heat to break down, not trying to make a ribeye.
