That job site in Austin where the GC told me to "just make it work" with the dodgy foundation slab
Spent 4 hours last Tuesday shimming every damn course on that uneven pour because nobody wanted to tear it out, how do you guys handle contractors who rush the prep work?

That 4 hour shim job sounds brutal. I had a similar slab in San Antonio last spring where the front corner was a full 1 1/4 inches low across a 12 foot span and the GC just said "throw some mud under it". Four of us spent half a day trying to get the first course level before the wall ties would even reach.

Kind of like how every house built after 2005 has that one corner where the drywall tape is cracking, right @johnson.jason? It's always the same story: someone skipped the prep work and now you're fighting the building's own bad decisions. That 1 1/4 inch drop is just the foundation trying to tell you it was poured on a Tuesday afternoon. It's amazing how often the simple fix gets turned into a whole ordeal because nobody wanted to spend the extra thirty minutes doing it right the first time.
