Showerthought: I lost a full day's pay on a 'fast setting' mortar that wasn't
I mean, I bought this stuff called 'RapidSet' for a small repair job last week, thinking it would save me time. It said it was ready in an hour, but after three hours it was still mush. I had to tear it all out and start over with my usual mix. That cost me about $300 in lost work for the day, plus the wasted bag. Maybe it was a bad batch or I mixed it wrong, but it felt like a total scam. Has anyone else had issues with quick setting products not living up to the claim?

That RapidSet stuff can be tricky. The water ratio and mixing time are super specific. If you add even a little too much water, it never gets hard. Used it once on a cold floor and it took forever to set. Sometimes the old reliable mix is just less hassle.

My cousin tried to use that for a DIY countertop and it was a DISASTER. Whole thing crumbled like a cookie.

Total scam" feels a bit strong for a bad batch or a mix-up. Stuff fails sometimes, it's just part of working with materials. I'd chalk it up to a frustrating lesson more than a conspiracy.
