Pro tip: My line snapped on a big garden wall job yesterday and the whole thing shifted.

Honestly, it was a 30 foot run and I had to tear down the top three courses. I used a cheap nylon line from the hardware store, but maybe I should have sprung for the braided stuff. Anyone have a brand they trust for long runs?

Sounds like a rough day but honestly, is a snapped line really that big of a deal? It's just a guide, not the thing holding the wall up. Maybe your foundation or the bond was off. I've seen plenty of walls go up fine with cheap line, the problem is usually something else.

Ray363 has a point about the line just being a guide, but a snapped line on a long run like that is a huge red flag. It means your wall was already under stress and pulling on it. I'd bet money your base was out of level.

Tbh a snapped line means your base is out of level for sure.
