My foreman told me to stop wetting my brick before laying and I about lost it
I was laying a running bond on a house in Mesa last Tuesday and my foreman Rick came by and said to quit dunking the brick in the water tub, which went against the 6 months of habit I built up. He explained that our brick was already pulling 4 percent absorption and soaking it was just making the mortar squirt out and weaken the joint, and after I tried it dry for a row the bond actually sat tighter. So do you all go by feel on absorption or just follow what the supplier spec sheet says?
