Honestly, a foreman in Austin told me my mortar joints were too fat and it changed how I mix for good.
He said 'you're wasting material and losing strength' so now I use a 3/8 inch trowel for everything and my walls are way straighter, anyone else get called out on joint size?

That foreman in Austin was onto something. I see it in my own kitchen, the grout lines on my old tile are way too thick and they're the first thing to crack. Sometimes the standard way is the standard for a reason.
