Had a day last week where every single brick was off by 1/8 inch
I was working on a fireplace surround in a house near Portland. Nothing was lining up. I must have pulled three rows and relaid them before lunch. Turns out my string line was stretched from the heat in the van. Anyone else ever fought a bad day like that and later found a simple fix?

My buddy Dave had a similar thing happen on a deck he was building. He kept ripping boards 1/8 short and couldn't figure out why. He was about to throw his saw in the lake when his helper pointed out the stop block had slid a tiny bit on the tape measure. Just enough to throw every cut off. He fixed it in like 30 seconds and the rest of the deck went up smooth. Little stuff like that will make you feel crazy until you spot it.

Totally been there. Had a kitchen backsplash last spring where I kept cutting tile too short by an eighth inch. Drove me crazy for two days. Finally realized my tape measure's hook had a little wobble in it from getting dropped on a concrete floor. Bent it back with some pliers and everything lined up perfect after that. Sometimes it really is just one little dumb thing throwing everything off.
