Brick veneer coming loose on my fireplace renovation

I redid the brick facing on my fireplace last week, but now some pieces are wobbling. I think I didn't apply enough adhesive behind them. The old mortar was crumbling, so I cleaned it all off first. What's the best way to secure brick veneer for good?

Watching your veneer come loose makes me think we all rush through prep work. We clean the surface but maybe not well enough, or we use too little adhesive because it seems fine at first. Why do we assume the quick way will hold up over time? I see this with everything from tile jobs to furniture assembly. The boring steps matter most, but we skip them to get to the fun part. You might need to pull those bricks off and really slather on the adhesive this time.

My deck boards went on with just enough adhesive (like the instructions said). Three years later, they're still solid. Sometimes we worry too much about prep work, you know? Sticking close to the guide saved me time without any loose pieces.

Six months is all it took for my neighbor's veneer to peel off. He skimped on adhesive and didn't clean the surface right. We all want to get to the fun part, so we ignore the boring steps. But those steps are what make the job last. If you skip them, you're just setting up for failure. Take the time to do it right the first time, or you'll do it twice.
