Why does nobody admit the Olive Garden breadstick apology in Times Square last month was actually done right?
I was walking past the 42nd St location on a Tuesday and saw a worker hand a guy a card for a free meal after he posted about a 40 minute wait, and honestly that tiny fix beat every big sorry video I have seen this year.
A free meal card for a 40 minute wait is just a coupon, not some big apology. Places hand those out all the time when service is slow, it's called keeping a customer. The guy posted about his wait and got a comp, that's a normal thing that happens at every chain restaurant in America. Calling it "done right" like it's some genius move feels like giving them way too much credit for doing the bare minimum. If they really cared they would have fixed the wait in the first place instead of handing out cards after people complain online. It's fine, but it's not the masterclass in saying sorry that you're making it out to be.
