Warning: that big coffee chain's 'apology' after the sugar mix-up
Guy at the Seattle drive-through last Tuesday told me his diabetic kid drank a full cup before they caught the error. Their fix was a $5 coupon. Has anyone else gotten a brand apology that felt worse than the original mess?

Wait, are we really celebrating that? I get that he got a free sandwich, but finding a used bandaid in your food is pretty gross and honestly kind of scary. That's a health code violation, not just a mistake. I'd be more worried about what else might have been in the kitchen than happy about a free meal. A free sandwich doesn't really make up for the potential germs or grossness you just ate near. If that happened to me, I'd probably report the place to the health department instead of bragging about the freebie.

The whole thing kind of shows how weve gotten used to lowering the bar for basic decency. A free sandwich shouldnt be the reward for eating something contaminated, but people are so desperate for any kind of win that theyll take it. Its like when your internet goes out for a day and the company gives you a 5 dollar credit like that makes up for losing a whole day of work or school. We just accept crumbs because the alternative is filing complaints and dealing with paperwork that nobody wants to do. Its a weird trade off where a small payout makes you forget that the place should be held to a higher standard in the first place. Free stuff isnt the same as being treated right.
