Update: I used to roast those apology ads until I saw the Domino's turnaround

Watched a video breakdown of their 2009 pizza redo and realized that groveling ad campaign actually changed their recipe and saved the company within 18 months. Has anyone else seen a brand come back from a genuine apology that didn't feel fake?

Yeah the "cardboard with ketchup" part is dead on. @emery_young13 I think that's the thing people miss - the apology only worked because they actually fixed the product first. Most brands try the reverse and it shows.

Yeah but you have to wonder if Domino's knew exactly what they were doing the whole time. I mean the "apology" was basically a marketing stunt that just happened to be paired with an actual recipe change. It's wild that we still act like corporations have feelings or something. They apologized because their pizza was objectively garbage and people stopped buying it, not because they felt bad about serving us cardboard with ketchup. The real test is whether they still taste decent today or if they went back to cutting corners once everyone forgave them.
